Compulsory excess? Nope†
If you don’t want an excess or bill share, you don’t have to choose it. Flexible cover for your pupper is what we’re all about.
Puppies are full of beans. They’re pretty low-energy to begin with, but it only takes a few weeks before they start getting up to mischief. And puppies are more likely to have accidents and are more susceptible to illness than adult dogs.
It’s also worth noting that vet fees can often be pricey, especially for certain treatments or procedures. That’s where the safety net of dog insurance can be a life-saver. Having the right cover in place can help absorb the cost of what might otherwise be a costly visit to the vet.
With Petgevity, you can get cover for your puppy from just 4 weeks old. Plus we only provide lifetime insurance. This means you can protect your puppy against any injuries or conditions they develop over their whole lifetime, as long as you renew each year.
And puppy insurance doesn’t only cover vet bills. Depending on what you need, you could look into a policy that covers other aspects of puppyhood – such as emergency kennel costs, or help if they go missing, such as creating adverts or offering rewards.

At its heart, puppy insurance is there to help financially with unexpected vet bills. If your puppy gets hurt or becomes ill, that’s when your policy springs into action.
With a Petgevity dog insurance policy, you’re covered for:
If you need more protection, you can also add optional extras to your policy. For a small fee, you can add things like protection for dental illness, or travel and holiday cover. Think about your puppy’s exact needs so you can tailor a policy that fits them perfectly.
Generally speaking, pet insurance won’t cover routine and preventative treatments. And this is also true of Petgevity policies. So we don’t cover things like:
Check with your local vet to see if they offer a healthcare plan. Many vets do this, allowing you to spread the cost of treatments such as these. These monthly payment schemes usually cover health checks, annual boosters, preventative care and so on.
If you need advice for your puppy, expert help is on hand with FirstVet. You can call UK-registered vets 24/7, which don’t count as a claim. Get unlimited, dedicated support during those crucial puppy years and beyond.
When you choose Petgevity, your pup gets more protection than just vet fee cover. Here’s what our puppy insurance includes.

Getting your puppy vaccinated isn’t covered by the vast majority of pet insurance policies, and Petgevity policies are no exception. This is because insurance isn’t there to cover routine or preventative care. You should also take your pup for routine check-ups to maintain your cover with us.
What you do get is cover for your puppy for accidental injury and illness. And as long as you renew your policy each year, they’ll continue being protected long into adulthood hopefully to a ripe old age.
This is really down to you. Puppy insurance is designed to protect you financially for unexpected events, including having to pay out a lump sum for veterinary treatment. You may feel it’s worth the peace of mind it gives you.
Bear in mind also that, while they’re growing and developing, puppies will have weaker immune systems than most adult dogs. As such, there’s a greater risk of them becoming sick, or getting accidentally injured.
Find out all the reasons why it’s worth considering getting insurance for your puppy.
With Petgevity, we can insure your puppy from four weeks old.
What we will say is that puppies are adventurous, and love getting their noses into things. Getting them covered sooner rather than later means you’re prepared early for anything that could result in a bill from your vet.
Most pet insurance policies don’t cover routine dental care. Our policies do cover dental accidents and emergencies as standard. You can also extend your policy to include dental illness cover as an optional extra.
