Father’s Day falls on Sunday 15 June this year, and what better way to celebrate the amazing dads in our lives than by including every member of the family – including man’s best friend.

And as a nation of dog-lovers, there are plenty of options for you, your dad and your canine companion to enjoy some quality time together.

Hit the beach

With miles of stunning coastline, the UK offers countless beaches perfect for a Father’s Day stroll. Many beaches welcome dogs, but it’s always a good idea to check your local council’s website before you go. Just remember to bring fresh water for your pup and pick up after them – you could have a dip in the sea yourself if you’re feeling brave.

Explore your local park

A leisurely stroll or an energetic game of fetch in one of the UK’s many beautiful parks could be the ideal Father’s Day activity. Many parks have designated off-lead areas where your dog can really stretch its legs. Why not pack a picnic, a frisbee, and plenty of treats?

Discover a street food market

For dads who enjoy a culinary adventure, many street food markets across the UK are dogfriendly. The lively atmosphere, diverse food options, and often outdoor settings make them a great spot to soak up some culture and grab a delicious bite. Many have stalls aimed exclusively at dogs too, so everyone will leave with a full stomach.

Enjoy a pint at a dog-friendly pub

There are roughly 40,000 pubs in the UK, and who doesn’t like a pint more than a hard-working dad? And while dogs might not be able to drink beer, many pubs across the UK warmly welcome well-behaved dogs in their bars, beer gardens, and some designated dining areas. It’s a classic British pastime that can be enjoyed by the whole family.

Treat your dad to a meal at a dog-friendly restaurant

Gone are the days when bringing your dog meant being shunned or forced to eat outside in the cold. A growing number of restaurants across the UK are now dog-friendly, allowing you to enjoy a delicious meal indoors with your furry companion by your side. From cosy cafes to trendy bistros, you’ll be spoilt for choice, but it’s always wise to call ahead or check their website to confirm their dog policy and book somewhere suitable.
